Your Margaret River regions reputation as an extraordinary port destination has been boosted with research showing that 100 percent of recent cruise passengers surveyed had a positive experience during their visit.
Princess Cruises’ spectacular Diamond Princess has recently made history in Western Australia, becoming the first cruise ship to visit the City of Busselton.
The 116,000-tonne ship anchored off the coast on the 27th November 2014 with her 2580 guests transferring to the city for a full day of sightseeing, shopping and tours.
“Busselton is a great city in a fantastic location so we’re thrilled to be taking thousands of holidaymakers there over the coming months,” Mr Allison said. “It’s a Western Australian jewel which we think our guests will long remember as a great feature of their cruise holidays.”
Mr Allison said each visit was expected to inject more than $300,000 into the local economy with a recent cruise industry economic study showing cruise passengers spend more than $150 a day on average during port visits.
Tourism WA commissioned research earlier this year to gain feedback from passengers on their experiences during cruise ship visits to Busselton in Your Margaret River Region.
The research showed that three out of five, or 61 percent, of transit passengers rated their overall experience at the destination as excellent while a further 34 percent rated their experience as very good and the remainder as good.
This means that 100 percent of transit passengers had a positive experience in the region, which is testament to the City of Busselton’s investment in establishing the destination as a new anchorage port last year and the efforts of all the volunteers and community in welcoming cruise passengers.
In addition, 42 percent of passengers said they would definitely recommend the region as a holiday destination to family and friends, while a further 54 percent were very likely or quite likely to recommend it.
