New food and wine tourism partnership

The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA) and South West Development Commission (SWDC) have announced the formation of a joint initiative to develop a strategy to advance the promotion of wine and food tourism in Your Margaret River Region.

An affirmation of the intrinsic relationship between wine, food and tourism in the region, the new partnership arrangement will see the development of an innovative food and wine promotional strategy for Your Margaret River Region.

The collaboration will see Mat Lewis (TradeStart Advisor, SWDC) and Tony Fletcher (Business Development Manager, MRBTA) work together to develop the strategy and identify opportunities whereby the tourism, wine and food industries can use their synergies to work together to achieve greater results.

Your Margaret River Region CEO Pip Close advised that the aim of the partnership was to increase awareness around the food and wine offering from the region, with the aim of increasing visitation for food and wine related tourism and bolstering food and wine exports from the region.

The Margaret River Region Wine & Food Partnership was officially launched last night at Wills Domain, as part of the MRBTA’s monthly membership function.

This partnership will critically improve and streamline communications between food and wine businesses and tourism industry bodies in the region. Ultimately this blending of two of the region’s two most important industry sectors of food and wine will take our tourism offer to a new level of sophistication and maturity that will underpin growth in what is a very competitive market
