Welcome to the MRBTA’s newest member: Floating Euphoria, the Margaret River Region’s first flotation therapy centre. Their Gnarabup wellness centre offers people the chance to experience the benefits of flotation therapy in our sensory deprivation float pods.

Curious as to what it is? Here they explain:
Flotation therapy was created by Neurophysicist Dr. John C. Lilly over 60 years ago whilst doing research on brain waves and altered states of consciousness. The therapy involves lying in specifically designed flotation tank that is filled with 1000 liters of water warmed to your skin temperature at depth of 25 centimeters. Dissolved in the water is 600 kgs of pharmaceutical-grade Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). The float tank or ‘float pod’ is designed to also eliminate all outside distractions such as sight, sound, tactile sensations, and of course, due to the extreme buoyancy of the water – gravity.

The best thing you can do for yourself if floating interests you even slightly, is to just try it! As you might imagine, being in a low-gravity, totally silent, and pitch-black flotation tank gives the body time to relax. While the healing benefits of relaxation have long been documented, the intense relaxation of flotation therapy is unique to the low-gravity environment that flotation tank provides. Being in a low-gravity, totally silent and pitch black environment also gives the mind time to relax as well. This mental release is almost the opposite of stress, and allows the brain to stop allocating its resources to processing the experience of all of our senses, producing profoundly positive mental effects and releasing a surge of positive neurochemicals. Floating has also been shown to help with the reduction of stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, insomnia, addiction and back and neck ache’s pains and general well being.
