Special Event | Member Mingle Fundraiser Success

With a fabulous contingent of over 100 members, last Wednesday’s very special Member Mingle saw over $6,300 raised for those affected by the recent South West bushfires, a truly outstanding result.

Businesses from across the region donated a total of 29 prizes amounting to $8700 in retail value. We would like to take this time to thank the generosity of all of our member’s who donated and attended the event at the Margaret River Distilling Co on Wednesday January 27, you guys are incredible.

An extremely heartfelt thank you to our full list of auction donors including: Accor Hotels, Arimia Wines, Café Boranup, Central Avenue Apartments, CinéfestOZ, Dunsborough Ridge Retreat, Edwards Wines, Fermoy Estate, Hillzeez Down South Surf Shop, Howard Park Wines, Jet Adventures, John Miller Design, Paula Wiegmink, Stellar and The Chief, Riverglen Chalets, Rosaleen O’Neill Massage Therapy, Segway West, Surf N’Dirt Adventure Tours, The Grove Experience, Toby’s Restaurant & Bar, Walk into Luxury, Wyndham Resort & Spa Dunsborough and Yahava Koffeeworks. We would also like to extend a big thank you to Cameron Syme and his team at the Margaret River Distilling Company, who donated an auction prize as well as 15% of purchases made on the night to the appeal. The funds raised will be issued to the Waroona and District Fires Appeal by the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund, the recognised state emergency fund providing relief for personal hardship and distress arising from natural disasters occurring within Western Australia.

 

If you were not able to attend on the night but are keen to get involved or donate, there are still fire appeals happening around the region including: 

Settlers Tavern | who have so far collected over $$2,642 in donations towards the Waroona and District Fires Appeal by way of The Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund, and are committed to MATCH DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR! Settlers Tavern whole-heartedly support our local volunteers, and Margaret River Volunteer Fire & Rescue branded merchandise is available for purchase at Settlers Tavern and Sidekick Café with 100% of the proceeds delivered to our local heroes. T-shirts are available at Settlers Tavern and tea-towels are available for purchase at Sidekick Café.

With the intention to continue their support they will be nominating the Fires Appeal for their regular Tuesday charity meat raffle. We encourage visitors and locals to pop into Settlers Tavern, Margaret River to buy a ticket before 6.30pm when the raffle is drawn.

Busselton Dunsborough Times | in conjunction with West Australian Regional Newspapers, The West Australian, Channel 7 and Redwave regional radio network, are launching an online auction Click4FireRelief.com.au – but they need your help!

The auction will be heavily promoted across The West Australian, Channel 7, West Regional Newspaper Group and the Redwave regional radio network. There will be no reserves on items as the objective is to raise as much money as possible, as quickly as possible. The auction will “go live” 8am Wednesday 10th February and conclude at 9pm on Monday 15th February.
