New President for Tourism Council WA

New Tourism WA President Announced

Tourism Council WA has welcomed a new President.

Long-time advocate for regional tourism, Chris Pye, has been elected as the new President of Tourism Council WA following the resignation of Manny Papadoulis as President and Director.

Mr Pye owns and operates regional accommodation provider Hospitality Inns, The Terrace Hotel, and other leisure operations. Mr Pye is also the Chair of Australia’s Golden Outback.

Mr Papadoulis and fellow long-time Director Karen Priest (Chief Executive Officer of Mandurah & Peel Tourism Organisation (MAPTO) both stepped down from the Board last Friday following their successful appointment as Commissioners of Tourism WA.

Under the stewardship of Mr Papadoulis during his four years as Chair, Tourism Council WA has significantly increased membership and strengthened its role as the voice of tourism. Tourism Council WA has driven red tape reduction, such as liquor regulation reform, significantly increased funding for tourism marketing and events, and raised public awareness of the value of tourism through the Tourism Works campaign.
