Application for pedestrian footbridge on Margaret River Road Bridge

By December 7, 2017December 12th, 2017Media Releases

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is applying for federal funding (Building Better Regions Fund) to construct a pedestrian footbridge on the eastern side of the Margaret River Road Bridge.

The project will provide a much needed pedestrian link between the Main Street and River Precincts, improving access to local businesses, Rotary Park, walking and mountain trails and heritage activities.

The Shire believes a pedestrian footbridge in this location will deliver direct economic benefits by:

* Increasing foot traffic between the two precincts, which is currently being restricted due to unsafe and awkward pedestrian access.
* Enhancing the appeal of Margaret River with a significant piece of infrastructure that will boost visitation and prospects for business.
* Creating job and contract opportunities during the construction phase.

Furthermore, the Shire also believes a pedestrian footbridge will deliver social benefits, making Margaret River an even better place to live and work in.

If you would like to help the Shire submit a robust application (and increase their chance of success!), please send a Letter of Support for the Link Project to:
