Email scam warning

A Margaret River winery was recently targeted by online scammers, via a book enquiry email.

The email was sent by Mark Pil, who also goes under the pseudonym of Mark Pill, Mark Pils, Hope or Faith.

While the emails vary, below is a copy of the one received by the Margaret River winery:

Hello,

How are you doing? I will like to book my family reunion lunch party in your place and private wine tasting & cheese platter. Please can you give me the price ranges, also do you accept credit card payment too. I will be expecting your reply back asap, thanks.

Followed by:

Thanks for your swift response. I am hearing impaired and am scheduled for surgery soon, i would like us to communicate via email. I am booking Wine tasting & cheese platters on the 12th January by 10:30am for 12 Guests.

12 Guests….. 12 Adults
Date: 12th January 2018
Time: 10:30am

I will like to make the full payment now for the Wine tasting & cheese platters for all the guests and let me know the total cost now. Please can you give me your full name, address and phone number for the Charter bus to locate your place on the day.
