Forest Adventures South West will soon join the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association’s (MRBTA’s) portfolio of attractions, with the MRBTA entering into a contract to purchase the business.
The high rope park, developed by a French company who specialise in the design and construction of high rope and zip line courses around the world, spans eight hectares in the Tuart Forest National Park near Busselton.
Six courses offer visitors 77 activities, ranging from three metres to 18 metres off the ground, and caters to all skill, fitness and daring levels. Visitors can choose from a range of challenges, including more than 500 metres of flying foxes, a 13 metre base jump and BMX on a wire.
The park is the only one of its kind in the south west and has been built to exacting European standards for safety and design.
MRBTA CEO, Claire Savage, said the popularity of high rope, zip line and adventure courses had increased throughout the world, and the current owners had done an outstanding job of establishing the successful park in Busselton.
“We are thrilled to bring such a unique, high quality, nature-based experience into our family of attractions for the benefit of visitors, members and the broader community,” said Ms Savage.
Forest Adventures will continue to operate as it has under the current ownership. As an MRBTA attraction, the money earned from the operation of Forest Adventures will help MRBTA continue to invest in the protection and preservation of the natural and heritage assets under its management and care, and further support its marketing and visitor servicing functions.
The formation of a single Local Tourism Organisation (LTO) for the region has provided MRBTA the opportunity to further diversify and strengthen its operations to secure a more sustainable future.
MRBTA plans to commence operating Forest Adventures in May, but will continue to work alongside the current owners for a transition period. All existing Forest Adventures staff will be offered continuing employment with MRBTA.
Forest Adventures will join other iconic experiences across the region operated by MRBTA including Lake, Mammoth, Jewel and Ngilgi caves, and the Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste lighthouses. The MRBTA also operates visitor centres in Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and Augusta, and ground handling at the Busselton Margaret River Region Airport.
