Expressions of Interest for Pink Up Your Region

By April 9, 2019Get Involved, What's on?

Think Pink! See the world through rose-coloured glasses this August as the whole Margaret River region takes part in the McGrath Foundation’s Pink Up Your Town and turns pink to help make life that little bit easier for families experiencing breast cancer.

Taking place from August 5th – 11th, the event is a collective community fundraising activity for breast cancer that calls for the entire town to ‘pink up!’ Money raised will go towards placing specialist McGrath Breast Care nurses wherever they are needed around Australia. The McGrath Foundation funds 132 Breast Care nurses in communities right across Australia, who have supported more than 70,000 families since 2005.

The Pink Up Your Region festival will provide an opportunity for businesses across the region to host a range of unique events with the pink theme. Whether it be pink costumes, tasty pink treats or pink beverages – members are encouraged to get creative and participate in a visual show of support for local families experiencing breast cancer. See event page on our consumer site for details.

Not only does the event support breast cancer nurses across Australia, it also aims to increase visitation to the Margaret River region in the traditionally off-peak winter period and providing a boost to local-businesses.

Businesses who have confirmed their involvement thus far include The White Elephant Cafe (aka – The Pink Elephant for the week of August!), The Equinox, Bettenay’s Margaret River, and Basildene Manor.

Email event coordinator Debbie Noonan at [email protected] or [email protected] for an event checklist or application for submitting your ideas.

Application Closing Date: Tuesday May 21st

Individuals who would also like to volunteer over the event week, are also encouraged to get in touch with Debbie.

Accommodation providers wanting to get involved can participate in The Biggest Break – happening over the same week.
