Busselton Jetty Glasshouse Village Update

SMC Marine has been awarded the contract to build the Busselton Jetty Village, a giant glasshouse at the end of Busselton Jetty.  The signing of the Design and Construct contract with SMC Marine is an exciting milestone for the Busselton Jetty said Chair Jenny Sheehan.

The new structure is scheduled to open in October 2020.  Boasting a Sunset Bar and Café, the Village will provide shelter for visitors all year round and feature a marine interpretation zone and environmental education space. The new 200 seat Village also presents opportunities to host an array of events and the ability to host weddings, corporate and private functions.

The project has been long awaited by locals and visitors alike and will cater for the growing demand of visitors wanting information on marine life, conservation and the environment through a new interactive marine and green zone.

The project is currently at the final design stage and to date BJI has secured $1.7 million from its own reserves, Federal, State and Local government as well as private donors. Another $250,000 is required to complete the project in its entirety and BJI are calling on the community for donations to be a part of an exclusive ‘Busselton Jetty Village Founders Club’.

“Busselton Jetty Inc has been saving for many years to develop new infrastructure at the end of the Jetty and this project is a tribute to the community who fought so hard to save the Jetty – we continue to honour their commitment to save the Jetty for future generations,” Busselton Jetty CEO, Lisa Shreeve said.
