Booking.com has just revealed the top trending destinations in Western Australia as a part of their Future of Travel report. The Margaret River Region has topped the list, with Busselton claiming the title of most-searched regional destination in WA, closely followed by Margaret River (2nd), Dunsborough (3rd) and Yallingup (8th).

For Busselton to claim the title of most-searched regional destination in WA – closely followed by Margaret River, Dunsborough and Yallingup – is an incredibly strong indicator of this destination’s appeal in the current travel environment. When we look at the findings from Booking.com’s Future of Travel Report it is clear where this appeal lies – travellers are seeking holidays where they can connect with nature and enjoy clean air and surroundings, with credentials around safety and sustainability growing in importance. Food and wine experiences continue to feature highly among traveller priorities, which has always been at the heart of the region’s attraction for visitors.

As a region we are very well positioned to become the destination of choice for high value, low volume domestic travellers looking for a long haul experience without the possibility of leaving the country. MRBTA is building on this potential through our destination marketing efforts, which include the redevelopment of the regional brand, the destination website showcasing all of the experiences the destination has to offer, and through our work to support Jetstar flights from Melbourne.

The report uncovers the top trends that will shape travel in the year ahead, using new research on all types of travellers from around the world. From travellers looking for a heightened level of travel safety and more sustainable travel offerings, as well as a newfound appreciation for doorstep delights, this will be the first look into the way we experience travel in 2021 and beyond, see Future of Travel report and press release below.
