Melbourne-Busselton Jetstar Route Delayed to 26 June 2021

Jetstar have announced today that due to the closure of Western Australia’s border with Victoria, they have delayed the start of their new Busselton – Melbourne service until 26 June 2021.

Jetstar have confirmed that they remain committed to the route and look forward to its launch as border controls are adjusted, travel demand returns and operational ramp up allows.

MRBTA CEO, Sharna Kearney, said “Undoubtedly this will come as a disappointment to our local tourism operators who have faced an incredibly challenging past year due to the uncertainty caused by COVID-19.

While the decision is disappointing, it is understandable in the current environment.  Unfortunately, consumer confidence around border closures is likely to impact travel planning and intent from the interstate market regardless of direct flight availability in the short to medium term.

MRBTA will continue to support our members to adapt to evolving circumstances through business development and destination marketing support.”

MRBTA is working with City of Busselton, Australia’s South West and Tourism WA to ensure the success of the route when it does resume.
