April 2023 Member Mingle Wrap

It was a priviledge to join the talented team at John Miller Design at his beautiful showroom in Margaret River last Thursday.

Jewellery artist John Miller has lived on his bush block in Yallingup for over 20 years and has become an institution. His iconic hand-crafted pieces often featuring local flora and fauna reflect the unique charm of our stunning region.

He expressed his appreciation for his wonderful staff, his love for our region’s natural beauty and his passionate support for local artists. As a Board Member of the popular annual Margaret River Region Open Studios event, he has contributed to exposing regional artists to a wider clientele, bringing more visitors into our region and raising awareness of the flourishing arts scene surrounding us. Thank you John for hosting us and also for generously presenting a gorgeous pendant to our lucky raffle winner.

Local jazz duo Brandie & Wise set the mood with their enchanting and warming tunes.

Not only were our eyes and ears up for a treat but also our taste buds, with the fantastic selection of wines donated by Wines of Merritt and beers sponsored by the Margaret River Brewhouse.

Winemaker Nick from Wines of Merritt talked about their low-intervention approach to winemaking. This method allows them to make enjoyable wines that encapsulate the essence of the region as much as possible.

Margaret River Brewhouse had exciting news to share: They are launching Margaret River Beer Co. as a brand, which will enable them to take their beers to a wider market. A new production facility is being constructed on Station Road, so watch this space.

MRBTA Chair Stuart Hicks took the opportunity to share his views on the wonderful contributions John Miller has made to the region and the arts throughout his career.

He also gave a brief update on the local tourism industry, highlighting the importance of the iconic Margaret River Pro event for the region, which proved to be a spectacular event once again.

In closing, he invited our members to join us at our Mid-Year Tourism Update & SGM at Cheeky Monkey Brewpub on Thursday, 25 May. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Thanks again to John Miller Design, Wines of Merritt and Margaret River Brewhouse for making this fabulous Mingle possible.
