Tourism Council WA: China Ready Workshop
May 22, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

To June 2018, WA attracted 59,900 Chinese leisure visitors, and it is a market showing strong growth, up over 17% from the previous year. Visitor spend from this market places them at the top of the list, with a $299 million spend for this period. One in 5 Chinese leisure visitors will also spend at least one night in regional WA.
China is no longer an emerging market, it’s one the primary markets for our state. With the language barrier and the cultural differences, the China market can be a daunting one for some small tourism businesses. This special workshop will help you understand the market and get your business ready for Chinese visitors. We will cover the basics of Chinese culture and traditions, as well as how to make small changes in your business to help meet their needs and expectations.
Once you’ve been through the in-depth workshop, you can complete a free assessment for individual China Ready & Accredited® Certification. Certified staff are an essential requirement for a business to then become China Ready & Accredited®.
This workshop will assist businesses to become ready to service the growing China market by understanding:
- Cross-cultural training for managers and service staff;
- Culture, history, traditions, and taboos;
- Meeting, greeting and serving;
- Expectations from accommodation, F&B and tourism services
- Language and names
This is an entry-level workshop ideal for business owners or managers looking to prepare their staff and business for Chinese visitors.
