2022 Membership Snapshot

Over the last 12 months we have been pleased to deliver the following outcomes to support your business:

  • Value for money: For every $1 generated through membership fees, we have invested a further $5 in activity to support your business and the wider region – that’s a total of $2.4million spent each year on marketing, visitor servicing and on developing regional tourism products and experiences.
  • Grant funding secured: Together with our partners, we worked to secure $350k in grant funds which were delivered directly to members most in need.
  • New website: The newly redeveloped margaretriver.com has achieved an exceptional 99% performance score in Google’s Core Web Vitals – a best-practice method of measuring website user experience.
  • Tales & Trails: The magazine received ‘Highly Commended’ at the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards, recognised ahead of Qantas Magazine.
  • Product development & training: 1-1 product development coaching was delivered to 30 businesses and digital marketing training delivered to 85 businesses. Training was also delivered through our establishment of Australia’s first destination partnership with Husbands That Travel/Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia.
  • Advocacy: Our advocacy on staff shortages included working with Margaret River Wine Association to commission a pre-feasibility study to validate the region’s need for short-term worker accommodation. Elsewhere, we worked with members to inform our response to the State Government’s Position Statement: Planning for Tourism and guidelines on short-stay accommodation.
  • Strategic Directions 2022-2025: We have received unanimously positive feedback from members on this strategy, which looks at the kind of visitors we wish to attract, how to ensure that the region is able to sustain the impacts of tourism activity, and the way in which tourism can benefit the whole community.
