Ngilgi Cave & Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse

Cave & Lighthouse Guides undertake guided tours, take responsibility for the wellbeing of visitors, sell retail merchandise, ensure the cleanliness of the site, and most important of all, they provide superb customer service and an unforgettable experience to our visitors.

Guides are responsible for the following key areas:

  • Guiding visitors safely through our sites
  • Informing, educating, and entertaining our visitors
  • Taking pride in the quality, cleanliness and presentation of every aspect of our caves & lighthouses
  • Providing our visitors with well-presented retail merchandise to enhance their experience of the site and region
  • Support and demonstration of MRBTA’s values and professional standards and adherence to policies and procedures

Skills and Experience 

To be successful in this role you must possess:

  • Outstanding communication and people management skills to engage, manage and entertain groups of visitors of different ages, backgrounds, interests and language
  • Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • A good knowledge of, or interest in, the geology, geography, history, and environment of this region
  • The ability to act calmly and effectively when under pressure and when facing unexpected incidents
  • The proven ability to follow procedures and understand the importance of safety
  • Ability to work independently and as a constructive team member
  • IT skills sufficient to operate a point of sale, complete online forms, and access web-based information

The successful applicants will:

  • Be available to work 4 to 8 shifts per fortnight, which will include weekends
  • Be guaranteed work throughout the year
  • Be able to work additional shifts during school holidays and public holidays
  • Have reliable transport, a ‘C’ class license and willingness to be rostered to work shifts at both Ngilgi Cave and Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse
