Leavers WA

Each November around 10,000 Year 12 high school leavers arrive in Busselton and Dunsborough to celebrate the end of their schooling for 4 days of official events and activities known as Leavers WA.

The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association work alongside several agencies and stakeholders including WA Police, WA Health, Department of Transport, and local government to form the South West Leavers Planning Group (SWLPG). The groups mission as part of the WA State Government Leavers Strategy is to provide a coordinated and flexible approach to school leaver celebrations (Leavers)in the South West through the provision of a safe and managed environment for school leavers.

MRBTA Contribution

MRBTA undertakes a crucial coordination role of Leavers celebrations and is the go to resource for all your leavers related questions. We liaise with MRBTA members that are planning to accommodate or service leavers; answer leavers related questions and act as an intermediary between businesses and the South West Leavers Planning Group.

A program of harm minimisation is planned, implemented and managed in collaboration with the Office of Crime Prevention, WA Police, state and local organisations, youth organisations, local accommodation providers and community members.

MRBTA relies on members to communicate what works and doesn’t work, to ensure a safe and successful leavers period.
