snapshot• GWN7 Top Tourism Awards: We hosted the two judges for the Top Tourism Awards – they had a taste of caving, mountain biking, food and wine and plenty more – fingers crossed now!

• ETE: We promoted the region to 50+ buyers at ETE (Extraordinary Tourism Exchange) in August in Perth – we are confident that our efforts significantly boosted destination awareness of Margaret River and will subsequently increase business in 2014-15;

• Tripadvisor: We have purchased the Margaret River Region and township pages on Tripadvisor, ownership commenced 2nd September – read more in the digital update;

• Cruise Down Under Conference: We are attending the conference to promote the Margaret River Region and sponsoring the lunch for buyers and sellers in Perth in September;

• Indonesia Road Show: The AMRTA will be promoting the Margaret River Region to selected buyers at the TWA Indonesia roadshow in November – read ‘What’s new from Tourism WA’ for more details;

• China Mission: The AMRTA will also be promoting the region to travel buyers at the TWA China Mission in October;

• Media famils: The AMRTA hosted Fleur Bainger (Australian Traveller) in the region last week to cover the AMRTA’s new food and wine trail, and we are developing itineraries for Gabi Mills (Primo Life Magazine), Helen Flanagan (freelance) and Sam Watson (The Vino Geek);

• Blog coverage: Cynthia Chew aka ‘The Food Pornographer’ has been writing some fantastic blog posts as a result of her famil which we hosted – check out her recent post on Aravina Estate;

• Television: Our new TV campaign promoting the destination and regional events runs from 25th August to -5th September throughout WA on GWN7, 7MATE & 7Two;

• ARTN Convention: Victoria Johnson will be representing Margaret River at the Australian Regional Tourism Network Convention in Port Stephens in October, as part of her award for WA’s Young Tourism Professional 2014. Pip Close (CEO) will also be speaking at the convention;

• NATAS: The AMRTA and the Margaret River Region will be represented by ASW at NATAS in Singapore in August, including distribution of our visitor guide, map and new food and wine trail guide;

• ASW Showcase: We are preparing to represent the Margaret River Region to selected delegates at ASW’s South West Showcase in Perth on September 17;

• Festival of Love: The AMRTA is a proud sponsor of the Festival of Love wedding expo on September 6 at Howard Park – we will be attending the event and showcasing our new ‘Inspirational Weddings at Lake Cave Deck’ guide, with the aim of promoting the Margaret River Region as a wedding destination.
