Southern Skydivers Wins Gold at the WA Regional Small Business Awards

Southern Skydivers, based in Busselton, were announced as winners last Friday night for the ‘Business with 5-10 Employees’ category at the 2014 Western Australian Regional Small Business Awards, which took place on 14 November held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Perth. These awards are a great celebration of regional business success.

The Minister for Small Business, the Hon. Joe Francis MLA presented the major prize of 2014 WA Regional Small Business of the Year to Rod and Cheryl Bishop from Mandurah Cruises and Gift Shop in Peel.

The WA Regional Small Business Awards are only open to those businesses who had won a Regional Chambers of Commerce or Small Business Centre award in their local region during the year. Southern Skydivers were eligible to enter the awards after winning the ‘Margaret River Region Small Business Award’ in September.

Southern Skydivers Marketing Manager, Amy Stutt, commented: “Thank you to the Small Business Development Corporation for organising the event, Synergy for sponsoring the awards, and the Margaret River Chamber of Commerce for our nomination. Southern Skydivers has won 5 major awards this year, so customers can be confident that they really are choosing a quality operator to skydive with.”

Mrs. Stutt continued: “Southern Skydivers has a fantastic team of staff, who prioritise customer service and safety. Our winning submission showed the judges that we are dedicated to servicing our community through donations and supporting community events. The finalists were the cream of the crop as far as regional WA businesses go, and we were proud to be representing the South West.”

Southern Skydivers were up against a diverse range of small businesses from all over the state which included HoseXpress, Jaguar Cabling, Kimberley Air Tours, Merredin Panel & Paint, and West Australian Alternative Energy; another nominee from the South West.
The Western Australian Regional Small Business Awards, in their 12th year running, aim to showcase and celebrate the best regional small businesses from across the state. Winners of each category received a framed certificate and a cash prize of $1,000 at the gala presentation.

Huge congratulations goes to Koomal Dreaming, Jarrah Grove Retreat and Morries Anytime who were also finalists on the night.
