Tourism industry updates

Inbound operators specialising in mainland China

Pip recently met with key Inbound operators from Sydney who were flown over by TWA. These operators specialise in mainland China. They were joined by representatives from TWA and ASW for a discussion on the key attributes of WA and where we need to direct our focus now, to plan for the future. It was noted that the Margaret River region is well placed, with its pristine clean and green environment and stunning coast line along with exceptional food and wine, which is what the quality Chinese tourist is seeking.

CEO Tourism Forum at ATEC

Pip also recently attended a CEO Tourism Forum in Canberra, which was held around the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) conference. Click on the image below for the Tourism Australia slideshow that demonstrates some key messages from the Head of Tourism for Australia. Note the shift in Asian markets by 2030, with China leading the way. A key outcome of this for the Margaret River Region is the increasing need for operators to understand the Asian consumer and the experiences they are seeking.

South West Development Commission Staff Update

Yan Lyu  has settled into the Bunbury-Jiaxing Business Office and is getting out and about in the region.
Yan is a relatively new migrant from Beijing and has been welcomed as a replacement for the well know China business officer, Edwin Zhuang. It’s quite a learning curve for Yan who is happy to help anyone wanting trade with China. Yan can be contacted by email through [email protected] or directly on the Podium Level of Bunbury Tower.
