MRBTA Welcomes Back Pip Close

By September 25, 2019September 27th, 2019What's new from the MRBTA?

Dear members,

The MRBTA is very excited to announce that Pip Close will be returning to the MRBTA team from November of this year, to help progress major strategic projects over the next six months.  Pip will be well known to many of you who had the pleasure of working with her as the AMRTA, and then MRBTA, CEO.

Over the last two years Pip has further honed her expertise successfully leading Tourism Tropical North Queensland into a modern destination marketing organisation for the Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region.

Highlights of Pip’s time at Tourism Tropical North Queensland include: securing $2.8 million funding for the destination’s largest ever domestic campaign; working with the Great Barrier Reef’s seven Regional Tourism Organisation’s and Tourism and Events Queensland to grow visitation to the region in the wake of global negative publicity surrounding the reef; and, launching direct flights with China Southern Airlines with the State Government and Cairns Airport.

We are thrilled that we have been able to secure Pip’s expertise to continue our strategic work around destination marketing, brand and experience development for the region, with a strong focus on industry capacity and capability building.  To this end, Pip will be working closely with our members and partner organisations.

Pip will officially start on the 11th of November and I know you will all join with us in warmly welcoming her back into the organisation.

Please see the official release here.

Kind regards

Trent Bartlett
