Western Australia’s leading tourism operators were recognised for their innovation and commitment to excellence at the industry’s premier awards ceremony, the 2019 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner, at Crown Perth over the weekend.
In its 47th year, the awards attracted a record number of entries from across the state. A phenomenal 17 medals were awarded to Margaret River region businesses, who together claimed the top prize in one quarter of all categories.
MRBTA was among the medallists, receiving a Silver award for Visitor Information Services following a submission encompassing the work of the three visitor centres, Augusta visitor information hubs, central reservations and marketing teams.
The most outstanding achievements of the evening were made by Busselton Jetty, which was awarded Gold medals in the Major Tourist Attraction and Ecotourism categories, as well as the tourism industry’s ultimate prize, the Sir David Brand Award for Tourism, for its continuous innovation and commitment to constant development.
